The gorge-like breakthrough of the Gauchach is a true paradise for nature lovers and offers an unforgettable discovery experience. Embedded in steep forest slopes and high cliffs, a clear mountain stream meanders through a wild and romantic nature reserve characterized by numerous small waterfalls. The premium trail, although short, is challenging and offers breathtaking panoramic views at the start and finish – from the depths of the Black Forest to the Swabian Alb.

The Simonswäldertal is one of the most scenic areas in the southern Black Forest. Surrounded by green meadows and forests, to the north-east of Freiburg im Breisgau and in the district of Emmendingen, the village offers numerous hiking opportunities in pure, healthy mountain and forest air. An absolute highlight is the historic oil mill with its beautiful farm garden, which invites you to linger and marvel.

Let yourself be whisked away on a stroll through the idyllic Bernau high valley, located near the Feldberg in the southern Black Forest. At an altitude of 900 meters, the ten small districts of Bernau blend harmoniously into the eight-kilometer-long valley, surrounded by meadows, forests and pastures. Bernau’s local mountain, the Herzogenhorn, rises majestically to 1415 meters and is also the highest peak in the district of Waldshut.

The picturesque village of Schönwald, located between Furtwangen and Triberg, is considered the birthplace of the cuckoo clock – a name that reflects more than just tradition here. Nestled in a wide clearing and framed by wooded mountains, the village offers an idyllic backdrop. This is also the source of the Triberg waterfall. Away from the main road, Schönwald shines with its typical Black Forest houses, cozy cafés, an extensive spa park and a solar-heated outdoor pool.
